Quran Kareem is a free, non-commercial website for reading the Holy Quran and listening to its recitation, with an interface in Arabic, English and French. Its only purpose is to make the Quran easy to access for everyone.

Sources and attribution

The Quran text

The Quranic text is the Uthmani script, narration of Ḥafṣ ʿan ʿĀṣim, published by the Tanzil Project (version 1.1). It is displayed verbatim — exactly as distributed by Tanzil, without any modification — and automated checks compare it with the original Tanzil file.

The text is distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license, with the following terms, reproduced from Tanzil:

Surah information

Arabic surah names, transliterations, English meanings, verse counts and places of revelation come from the Tanzil Project’s Quran metadata. French surah names and some alternative spellings used for search come from MP3Quran.net.

Recitations

Recitations are streamed directly from the servers of MP3Quran.net; they are not hosted, copied or modified by this site. Only recordings that MP3Quran.net identifies as the Ḥafṣ ʿan ʿĀṣim narration are offered, so that the audio matches the displayed text.

Fonts

The interface uses IBM Plex Sans Arabic (© IBM Corp.) and the Quran text uses Amiri Quran (© The Amiri Project Authors). Both fonts are licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 and are served from this site itself.

Privacy

What is stored on your device

This site has no accounts and collects no personal data. To remember your choices, it saves a few preferences in your browser’s local storage (localStorage), on this device only:

theme (light, dark or system)
Quran text size
favorite surahs
last reading position (surah and verse)
bookmarked verse
preferred reciter
playback speed

These preferences never leave your device: they are not sent to us or to anyone else. You can delete them at any time with the button below, or by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.

Connections to other services

Audio is loaded only when you start playback: your browser then connects directly to MP3Quran.net’s audio servers (such as serverN.mp3quran.net, delivered through Cloudflare). Like any web server, they can see your IP address and your browser’s user agent.

The site itself is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. As with any website, Cloudflare processes standard technical request data (such as your IP address and the pages requested) in order to deliver it.

Accuracy and reporting problems

The Quran text is displayed verbatim from the Tanzil Project, whose specialists verify and monitor it. If you notice a problem with the text, the audio or the site, please report it to the site maintainers.
